Join us in addressing one of society's greatest challenges—declining social connection and trust. As a volunteer with the Seattle Chamber of Connection, you’ll help end the Seattle freeze by supporting Seattleites who are in transition and welcoming some of the 60,000 newcomers to the city each year.
Leadership Volunteer Role
Welcome Facilitator
As a Welcome Facilitator, you'll lead participants at our monthly Seattle Welcome Days and Best Day Ever events, guiding them to envision the life they want in Seattle and fostering connections.
Responsibilities:
Greet newcomers and attendees and ensure they feel immediately welcomed
Facilitate a small group through activities like visioning, reciprocity rings, and friendship accelerators
Collaborate with fellow facilitators to enhance community engagement including monthly calls
Requirements:
Attend a training to learn our methodology
Dedicate time to attend Welcome Nights, Best Day Ever events, and tabling opportunities at additional events
Experience facilitating groups, tabling for organizations, and/or life coaching
This role is ideal for you if you want to:
Network and build friendships with diverse Seattleites and fellow facilitators
Make a tangible impact on people’s lives and be part of a national movement
Learn new methodologies and gain fresh perspectives
Leadership Volunteer Role
Connection Mascot
As Sam the Bear, our connection mascot, you’ll be the joyful, friendly face of connection across Seattle, helping thaw the Seattle Freeze one bear hug at a time. You’ll bring warmth, playfulness, and belonging to life at events, public appearances, and moments of everyday magic.
Responsibilities:
Suit up as Sam the Bear and engage with community members at events, activations, and public appearances
Bring the spirit of connection to life through playful, welcoming, and inclusive interactions
Pose for photos, offer bear hugs with consent, and delight kids, adults, and newcomers alike
Requirements:
Attend required training and review the Sam the Bear materials and videos
Commit to performance blocks of 30–90 minutes, with breaks every 30–60 minutes
Comfortable wearing the costume, performing nonverbally, using body language, gestures, and playful movement
This role is perfect for you if you want to:
