Seattle Chamber of Connection

Seattle’s institution dedicated to building and sustaining the core infrastructure needed to address the greatest issue facing society today, our lack of connection.

Seattle has always been a city of invention, from airplanes to coffee, from grunge to global tech. Now, it’s time to lead again.

Today, Seattle ranks among the lowest in the nation for social contact. Nearly half of residents see friends or relatives less than once a week, 40% say it’s not important to make new friends, and almost half prefer not to interact with people they don’t know. At the same time, we have the highest share of newcomers of any major U.S. county and the lowest levels of religious participation, leaving fewer built-in ways to belong.

Our goal: make Seattle the most welcoming city in America within a generation. By harnessing our culture of innovation, collaboration, and play, we can build the civic infrastructure of connection, and show the nation what’s possible when a city decides to come together.

Why We Exist

How We Work

  1. From the Seattle Freeze to the Seattle Bear Hug
We’re reshaping Seattle’s story with a new, pro-social narrative rooted in belonging and everyday connection.

  2. The First City in America with Newcomer Onboarding
We help every new Seattleite find their footing through programs that turn strangers into neighbors.

  3. Cross-Sector Collaboration
We partner with employers, city government, and cultural and civic institutions to make connection a shared civic priority.

  4. Empowering Community Builders
We train and support the local leaders who create the events, spaces, and habits that form Seattle’s social foundation.

  5. Measuring Success Through Connection
Our goal is simple: that one day, everyone in Seattle lives the Six Points of Connection — and the city itself becomes a model for the nation.
